About the Artist
Grace Muncada-Rosario, known as @muntrioart on social media, is an artist based in Madrid, Spain. Originally from Manila, Philippines, she moved to Madrid in 2021, where she began her art journey through self-education. She works with a variety of mediums, including oil, gouache, and digital. Although she has no formal training in art, her love for storytelling and visual expression drives her to be a lifelong learner and continually grow as an artist.
Artist Statement
For me, creating art is about facing the canvas or paper with honesty and accepting whatever truth emerges in the process. Personal art does not lie, and it often helps me see more clearly and gain perspective on aspects of myself I had not previously noticed. It’s a journey without rules or limits, where no one can dictate what or how I should interpret.
While drawing and painting can often be a solitary endeavor, it starts to feel less so once I let go of perfection and embrace the raw, sometimes uncomfortable process of making art. As the process unfolds, the artwork begins to take shape, and it feels like a conversation between my ideas and the canvas. I use whatever medium feels right for each piece, as long as the expression comes through. I believe the world still needs art and stories that help anchor us in our humanity and the way we interact with the world around us.
