THE MEAM HALL

Grateful for the opportunity to be part of The MEAM Hall (3rd edition) collective exhibition at the Museu Europeu d'Art Modern (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain. My pieces "Mirror, mirror" and "A winter day in Safranbolu" were exhibited from March 24 to September 24, 2023.

When you gaze into a mirror, what do you see? Do you see only your reflection, or do you allow your mind to wander through the depths of your memories or daydreams? Do you talk to yourself? What words do you choose? Are they harsh and critical, filled with self-doubt and negativity? Or are they words of kindness and affirmation?

One winter day in Safranbolu, we sought refuge from the negative temperatures in a quaint coffee shop. This Turkish coffee pot, or cezve, holds a special place in my heart as a souvenir from our visit to this charming Ottoman town in the Black Sea region of northern Türkiye.

During a time when the world was slowly opening up to travelers after strict lockdowns, we were fortunate to experience the beauty of Safranbolu without any crowds. As an important stop on the Silk Road, the town, which is home to saffron flowers, holds colorful stories within its picturesque streets.

This souvenir is a simple reminder of the joys of travel, the charm of historical towns and of finding items that remind us of our adventures.
